How to fix the pesky "GPS signal not found error" in Pokemon GO

pokemon go error bug fix gps signal not found

If you've ever played Pokemon GO, chances are you've encountered this error. GPS signal can be a bit snotty at times. Pokemon GO is one of those games that require not only a strong internet connection, but also a connection to a GPS tower for maximum enjoyment. Worry no more, here is how you can achieve both.

GPS ERRORS? MAKE SURE YOUR GPS IS ON!

Make sure your GPS is on! Location tracking is turned off by default  in most devices since it is a battery exhaustive feature. Follow the steps bellow to enable your GPS.

how to fix gps not found error in pokemon go

1. Go to your phone's settings.
2. Scroll down to Location. Tap on it.
3. Click the toggle to enable GPS tracking.
4. Tap on the Location Mode and make sure it is in high accuracy.

TURN YOUR WIFI ON

You need to turn your WiFi ON even if you're not using it. It will allow the game to take the position of the nearest WiFi server and determine your location.

STEP OUTSIDE. GET BETTER GPS RECEPTION

As I've said before GPS signals can be a bit snotty. Although GPS radios in smartphones has improved significantly over the years, they're still not perfect. They can still have trouble finding your location, especially if you are indoors. You might want to step outside for a little while to get a better GPS reception. Once the game has tracked your location, you can step back inside.

STILL GETTING GPS ERRORS, EH?

With over a 100 million downloads, Pokemon GO is getting a ton of attention lately. Restart the game. Give it some time. If you've done all the steps mentioned above and you're still getting errors chances are, Niantic servers are just overloaded.

In exchange of higher accuracy, battery life is a trade off. But if the need is there, then so be it. Portable chargers are cheap and available everywhere!

  2. I think the majority of the time it is the Niantic servers. I was getting this constantly at the start but the servers do seem a lot more stable now.

  7. I always experience that error but good thing that it won't last long, though. It may occur but for seconds only. I always see to it that my GPS setting is always on whenever I play the game. So I assume there should be no problem then.

  8. I did try Pokemon Go while bored, on the train. As the Wifi signal on the train varies with the area, I did get quite a lot of GPS not found errors. But as soon as the train would get into a reception area, the character would start moving again :)

  11. I am currently waiting for my baby to pop out and as I was resting in bed, I used up all my Pokeballs and going to a Pokestop is too far for me. I hope I can get more Pokeballs soon to play PokemonGo again. I also experience the error in signal but I know it is because of very slow connection.
